WHY did CPSC force Underwriters' Laboratories (UL) to change its CO alarm standard in 1998 to prohibit alarms below 70ppm and even any display of CO levels below 30ppm, when EPA’s limit for outdoor exposure was only 9ppm, the NIOSH limit 35 and the OSHA limit 50?
WHY does CPSC allow the sale of unvented gas ovens, unvented gas fireplaces, and unvented attached garages – the use of which commonly results in CO concentrations inside homes above 30ppm?
